Summary

5th place (provisional)

Good solid weekend, with much progress.

Race 1 W/L 2
The biggest part of this race was actually making the start line. We had several shore side maintenance tasks to perform, including threading a new jib halyard. On the way to the race course, Perry commented “we’re at serious risk of actually making the start!”.

R2 W/L 2
OK race, with solid series of practice gybes on the way back from the course. Quote of the race on the downwind…..

Val: is the kite packed?
Andy: what?
Val: IS THE KITE PACKED
Andy: the kite’s up!

R3 W/L 2
Very light wind conditions led us to believe the race would be postponed. Got wrapped up in practice drills, and were late to the start. Tough to come back from there. We’ll learn from our mistakes!

R4 W/L3
Great start, mixing up with Chewbacca. Good first leg. Solid series of practice gybes on the way back from the course.

R5 Medium distance – LaPoint – Hermit (to port) – Bayfield (via North Channel) 10-20 kts gusting to 28.
Reasonable start, hard beat up to Hermit, spin reach in 20-25 then the end of the spin pole broke off. Outstanding douse from Val, penny, and Darin. Rigged a barberhaul for the run home. Tough to catch anybody from there.
